Enjoy the moment - Sunset over Lucan Weir, County Dublin, Ireland Friday evenings I have an hour to fill while Danny is running around in Beavers, so it's always lovely to take the camera down to the river and see what happens.
Last night I was in luck - not too cold, and the sunset slowly falling into the nestled dip of the trees as I looked up the Liffey from my vantage point on the walkway. Apart from a chap quietly sipping from a can of Guinness on one of the benches further up, I had the place to myself - just the sounds of running water and the odd duck flitting up and down the weir. I only took a few photos, just sat and enjoyed the moment, which is something we can forget to do so often in pursuit of "that shot".
Hope you enjoy this version of the scene as the golden orb touched the skyline, casting its luminescent trail across the flowing waters and filling the sky above with beautiful muted colour.
For those of you who like the technical stuff: Nikon D810, 16-35mm f/4 @ 16mm, 30 seconds exposure at +4EV, Lee 10 stop ND filter and Heliopan polarizer, ISO 64, all on my trusty Manfrotto XProB tripod. Cropped to 19:7, edited in Adobe Lightroom.

Hidden away deep in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, is this little river falling through lush, verdant jungle. Known as a location by film-makers, this waterfall featured in the movie "Blood Diamond", and provided a lovely morning's shooting in the week leading up to Christmas - a change from the freezing temperatures in Dublin at this time of year!
